Management of Ankle Injuries: An Update
Ankle injuries arguably are among the most common musculoskeletal conditions seen in the acute care setting, with current estimates suggesting that 23,000 ankle sprains occur daily in the United States, accounting for 1.6 million physician visits per year. This may actually be an underestimate of the true incidence of ankle injury, as many people sustaining ankle injuries don't seek medical treatment and many seek treatment from non-hospital-based providers (e.g., athletic trainers, physical therapists).
