`We Can and Must Do Better in Order to Save Lives Now’
January 12th, 2015
It’s April, and the rebirth of the earth reminds us that its National Donate Life Month.
Many of you and your associations already are working with Donate Life America and have signed up for the Health Resources and Services Administration's Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign to register organ donors, according to the American Hospital Association.
For example, the Delaware Healthcare Association hopes to register at least 28,000 new donors in its state. The campaign challenges hospitals to educate all employees and the community about the need for organ and tissue donation and to encourage donors to register, according to the association’s president and CEO Wayne Smith. "Many of our hospitals and health systems are doing a great job in encouraging donor registration, but we can and must do better in order to save lives now, " Smith says.
We agree. More than 110,000 men, women, and children are waiting for lifesaving organs, and thousands more need tissue and cornea transplants, according to the AHA. Don’t take your organs to heaven; heaven knows we need them here. Why not check out the links above, full of resources to make the job easier, and be inspired?
