Feds open second anti-fraud field office
The federal government's second Medicare anti-fraud field office will be located in New Orleans, the Health Care Financing Administration announced in February.
The New Orleans office follows on the heels of the successful Miami field office. As in Miami, investigators will work with federal and state programs, law enforcement, private insurers, and consumer advocacy groups to ferret out, prosecute, and help prevent Medicare fraud and abuse.
Opened as part of the expansion of Operation Restore Trust, which was launched by President Clinton in May 1995, the Louisiana field office will help coordinate anti-fraud efforts in other states, including Texas.
