Need information on male reproductive health? How about tips for promoting menopausal health? Move now to take advantage of these two upcoming conferences:
1. Reproductive Health 2000, Sept. 14-16, Chicago. This 37th annual meeting of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) is sponsored by AVSC International, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), and the National Abortion Federation. Two concurrent pre-conferences are scheduled Sept. 13: "Men’s Health," which will offer information on reversible male contraception, no-scalpel vasectomy, and testicular self-exams, and "Women’s Health in the Perimenopause," which will focus on osteoporosis, alternative therapies, and mature sexuality.
Topics covered during general education sessions include sexually transmitted diseases, medical abortion, new contraceptive technologies, emergency contraception, and more. Continuing education credits are available for both the pre-conference and the general sessions.
Fees for the pre-conference are $110, ARHP/ NPWH member, physician; $75, ARHP/NPWH member, clinician/researcher/educator; $135, nonmember, physician; and $100, nonmember, clinician/researcher/educator. 2. Women’s Health Care in the New Millennium, Oct. 11-14, Albuquerque, NM. This is the third annual conference on women’s health sponsored by the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH). The Oct. 11 pre-conference will offer two sessions, "Promoting Menopausal Health: Practical Clinical Guidelines" and "Practical Applications of New Technologies for Screening for Cervical Cancer." The first session, presented by the North American Menopausal Society of Cleveland, will offer a thorough review of the latest guidelines, including such issues such as treating hot flashes after breast cancer and the role of complementary therapies. The following session, presented by The Trylon Corp., will include new technologies for cervical cancer screening, with strategies for practice implementation.
Sessions scheduled during the conference include will cover such women’s health topics as abnormal mammograms, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and new contraceptive methods, with workshops focusing on intrauterine device insertion, vulvar biopsies, and basic suturing. Continuing education credits are available.
Pre-conference fees are $75, conference participant; $100, nonconference participant; and $25, student. Conference fees are $350, NPWH members; $375, nonmembers (includes one-year membership fee); and $200, student (includes one-year membership fee). Single-day fees are $125 for NPWH members, $175 for nonmembers, and $200 for students; fees for nonmembers and students include a one-year membership. Late fee (postmarked after Oct. 1) is $375.
