Web site makes information available instantly
A new medical record management tool will allow people to control and maintain their medical history on the Internet.
MedicalRecord.Com, a San Francisco company, has devised a Web site that gives consumers and the medical community a secure location to manage and access personal medical records.
"Most medical records are scattered around the country as patients move, switch health care providers, or insurance plans. Through MedicalRecord.com, people are able to manage their own and their family’s medical history," says G. Edward Kriese, president and CEO of MedicalRecord.com.
Kriese, who developed MedicalRecord.com, says his company seeks to offer individuals, physicians, and the medical community worldwide access to a secure Internet site that provides the most current information on a patient’s medical conditions and treatments.
Patients answer a series of questions and fill in forms to give their personal health information, including insurance, physician, emergency contact information, surgeries, allergies, immunizations, medications, health events, family history, and prescription drug restrictions.
The system automatically creates a summary medical profile that can be printed or e-mailed. The company offers wallet cards or bracelets that contain the logon and a password to the patient’s medical records in case of an emergency.
This feature is particularly useful if the patient is traveling and needs emergency care, Kriese adds.
The company’s Web site is located at www.medicalrecord.com.
