CA assemblywoman shelves suicide legislation
The California assembly sponsor of a bill that would allow terminally ill adults to seek a physician’s assistance in suicide has decided to shelve the proposal until next year.
The bill won passage in the state’s assembly appropriations committee. Assemblywoman Dion Aroner (D-Berkeley) says, however, she will delay introducing it to the full legislative body until 2000. Aroner says she doesn’t see that there’s enough support for the legislation and "policy-makers aren’t where the public is" on the issue.
