Florida HMO takes different advertising tack
Miami-based AvMed HMO is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to dealing with the anti-managed care sentiment sweeping many of the country's consumers. A $3 million ad campaign, which debuted in late August, features company CEO Edward C. Peddie acknowledging the rising tide of consumer concern about managed care, saying things like "So-called managed care can't manage and just doesn't seem to care."
The campaign features Peddie speaking about the reason consumers have lost faith in HMOs, and how his company intends to listen to their complaints and improve accordingly. The end of the commercial features a toll-free number viewers can call to express their views and ideas.
AvMed will track and compile the calls, and the second phase of the campaign will spread the word about changes the company has made in response to the suggestions.
