Dallas employer coalition ranks area HMOs
If you're not quite convinced that reporting medical outcomes and patient satisfaction data is the wave of the future, a report from a Dallas group may convince you otherwise.
The North Central Texas HEDIS Coalition recently conducted its fifth annual survey of Dallas-area HMOs, reporting data on preventive care measures that health plans must submit for HEDIS (Health Plan Employer Data Information Set) data collected by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, as well as member satisfaction and physician turnover.
Several Dallas area employers say they will use the statistics this fall when deciding which health plans to offer next year, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Emerging as the top-ranked plan was Harris Methodist Health Plan, the area's largest HMO. Harris was one of seven health plans that voluntarily submitted data to the North Central Texas HEDIS Coalition.
