The American Rehabilitation Association has released three new or updated publications for use by the rehab field. They are:
• The Status of Pediatric Rehabilitation: Helping Children with Special Health Care Needs. The publication examines the special needs of pediatric patients, the level of care, and financial considerations for planning care over a lifetime. The cost is $30 for members; $50 for non-members.
• How to Establish a CORF: Who They Are and What They Do. The book, updated in June 1996, reviews the history of Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, as well as legal requirements, reimbursement, cost reporting, and medical review. The cost is $45 for members; $69 for nonmembers.
• A Prototype Classification System for Medical Rehabilitation. Updated in September 1996, this publication includes studies that established the functional related group (FRG) model for reimbursement, as well as information contained in the RAND study of Medicare reimbursement. The cost is $40 for members; $60 for nonmembers.
