What is role of NSAIDs in childhood asthma?
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be a better alternative than bronchodilators in children with asthma, according to a study from the University of Missouri in Columbia. When reviewing the charts of 175 children with asthma for more than eight years, physicians found that children with mild asthma tended to take bronchodilators as needed, while those with moderate asthma took cromolyn, and children with severe asthma took inhaled corticosteroids. However, earlier introduction of NSAIDs such as cromolyn can improve long-term outcomes with childhood asthma, the researchers report.
