Nursing league offers new book for home health
The National League for Nursing in New York City has issued the first volume of its new monograph series, a 121-page book that focuses on home health care. Home Health Outcomes and Resource Utilization: Integrating Today’s Critical Priorities, consists of nine articles by 19 authors. It’s part of the Council of Community Health Services’ monograph series, which is exploring topics relating to community health.
The articles explore a wide variety of topics in home health care, including chapters titled, "Measurement of Outcomes in Home Care: An Overview," "Critical Pathways Define Best Practice," and "Prospective Payment: Impact on Resource Utilization and Quality."
It’s edited by Carolyn Adams, EdD, CNAA, an associate professor at the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education at Washington State University. Adams is the director of program development for the Connecticut Association for Home Care and the president of Anthony and Associates, consultants in home health care management.
"Combining quality care within the context of maintaining costs is clearly a major administrative issue in providing home health care, largely driven by government health finance bodies and managed care organizations," Adams says.
The articles on measuring outcomes in home care and procedures for hiring home health nurses would be especially valuable to nurse educators, Adams adds.
The book costs $23.95 and can be ordered through the National League for Nursing’s customer service department at (800) 669-9656, Ext. 138.
The National League for Nursing is affiliated with the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, which is the official accrediting body of all levels of nursing education programs.
