Partnership promotes consumer, buyer savvy
Seven leading business and employer organizations have joined in a move to teach consumers the basics of evaluating the quality of available insurance plans. Their public information campaign is called the Employer Quality Partnership (EQP).
The first phase is the release of two brochures, Navigating the Health Care System, and Looking for Value: An Employer's Guide to Evaluating Quality Health Plans.
Those are the first of several publications designed to prepare consumers and health plan purchasers to "understand what care they are getting under any option," says Tony Burns, chairman and chief executive officer of Ryder System Inc. of Miami and EQP chairman.
Members of the EQP coalition include the Business Roundtable in Washington, DC, Association of Private Pension and Welfare Plans, the ERISA Industry Committee, the National Association of Manufacturers, the National Association of Wholesalers-Distributors, the National Federation of Independent Business, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
