• St. Vincent Healthcare System (Worcester, MA) said it will close its home health agency in November, reported the Associated Press. Certified Nursing Services will close Nov. 27, hospital officials told the Associated Press. Patients will experience minimal disruption of service as a result of the decision, hospital officials said. The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Massachusetts is capable of assuming St. Vincent’s patients, hospital officials told the AP.
• Saratoga County’s Public Health Nursing Service has held down financial losses in its home healthcare program, according to an outside audit conducted for the county, reported the Times Union of Albany, NY. The audit was done to determine the impact on home healthcare by the county as a result of the Medicare reimbursement changes brought on by the the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, according to the Times Union. The report found that the Saratoga County Public Health Department has done an outstanding job in maintaining financial stability while providing home care services to Saratoga County residents, the Times Union reported.
