Catheter manufacturer announces restructuring, layoffs
Sandy, UT-based Becton Dickinson has announced that restructuring of manufacturing operations will lead to layoffs or reassignments for as many as 1,000 manufacturing personnel. Along with other initiatives, the company expects to incur about $120 million in restructuring, one-time, and other charges this year. Restructuring should be complete by the end of 1999.
The company points out that its restructuring efforts are to create a solid base on which to plan future growth, rather than to realize immediate cost savings.
