Home care going to Disney World?
Learn customer service from Mickey and friends
Home care quality managers have the opportunity to learn business strategies from Disney, a worldwide leader in quality service.
The newly developed program presented by Disney University Professional Development Programs was designed for all health care professionals involved in the areas of patient/guest services, human resources/training and education, and overall customer service initiatives.
"The Disney Approach to Quality Service: Customized for the Healthcare Industry" debuted at Walt Disney World Resort May 21-24 to a sold-out audience. Additional 31¼2-day seminars are scheduled for June 25-28, July 23-26, Aug. 27-30, Sept. 17-20, and Oct. 29-Nov. 1. Class size is limited.
The program provides the opportunity for health care professionals to look behind the scenes at Walt Disney World Resort and study core philosophies of customer service.
Companies that have sent staff to Disney Uni versity executive education programs include hospital and home care giant Columbia/HCA Healthcare, Cleveland Clinic, University of Tennessee Medical Center, Florida Hospital, and even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
East Jefferson General Hospital, a publicly owned, 556-bed not-for-profit community hospital in Metairie, LA, has sent more than 70 of its staff to the different Disney seminars to learn business and management strategies.
"Our market share has increased by about 7% since we returned from the Disney seminars, and I think a lot of that increase is due to what we have learned at Disney and applied here at East Jefferson," says Peter Betts, president and CEO of East Jefferson General Hospital. "We also have noted that customer satisfaction has increased a great deal. Those that come to our hospital from other hospitals frequently comment on the difference that they find here, and seldom go back to the other hospitals."
Guided field trips across the 47-square-mile Walt Disney World Resort property take participants out of the traditional classroom and use Walt Disney World Resort’s operations as a model. Tuition is $2,495 per person, which includes accommodations at the Disney Institute (Disney’s newest resort), breakfast and lunch daily, course content materials, theme park admission, use of the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system, and an opening session reception.
Oh, and don’t forget the kids.
