JCAHO’s restructuring gives a nod to home care
A series of organization and staff promotions designed to enhance its outreach efforts were recently announced by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
The major change was the development of the new Division of Government Relations and External Affairs.
"The new division will concentrate on Joint Commission outreach efforts directed toward managed care organizations, state and federal government agencies, the business community, and the professional community," according to Janet McIntyre, a JCAHO spokeswoman. "The Joint Commission will work to enhance its communications with a variety of provider associations, including those involved in home care."
She adds that JCAHO also plans to assess how far managed care has progressed in home care and determine how best to provide accreditation services.
