National conference focuses on future
AOHP meeting features variety of sessions
Health care’s direction for the future is the focus of the Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare’s (AOHP) 17th annual national conference, which is set for Oct. 23-25 in Orange County, CA.
"Occupational Health in the 21st Century: Survival, Managed Care and You" will feature sessions on paradigms of the future; the relationship between research and practice; latex allergy; the ANSI cumulative trauma standard; physical assessment; shoulder, cervical, and low back evaluations; certification in occupational health nursing; workplace drug abuse; respiratory protection against tuberculosis; a case management approach to return-to-work; the JCAHO/OSHA partnership; cultural diversity and health care; workplace health promotion; video display terminal/ergonomics training; cost containment for work-related back injuries; and bloodborne pathogens awareness.
Cost of the main conference is $400 for AOHP members and $475 for non-members. A one-day pre-conference workshop on getting started in occupational health in the health care setting also is offered at an additional cost of $225.
