NAHC to create HME association
NAHC to create HME association
Forgoes joint ventures with existing groups
The Washington, DC-based National Association for Home Care (NAHC) has opted to start a new affiliate, after carefully considering three options to better represent its members’ interests in the durable medical equipment, home medical equipment (HME), and home infusion industries,
The new association will cater specifically to HME interests, with a tentative name of Home Medical Equipment Association of America. However, those are all the details the NAHC is releasing at this time.
According to an NAHC spokesperson, the new association will have an advisory board whose chair will report to the NAHC board. Planning is in the preliminary stages, with an advisory board, mission, goals, and objectives currently being defined.
Also unclear is how an agency will become a member of the Home Medical Equipment Association of America. Most of the NAHC’s affiliate organizations require an agency to join the NAHC and then select any one of the NAHC’s affiliates to join for free. However, the Hospice Association of America allows direct access to membership without requiring membership in NAHC. At this point, both are options NAHC is considering.
More concrete answers will likely be available at the NAHC’s annual meeting, scheduled for Oct. 18-22 in Boston.
