Joint Commission approves quality software tool
Quality Indicator, a software product developed by HealthShare Technology, Inc., has been selected by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, for inclusion in the ORYX accreditation process. The product is one of 60 performance measurement systems the Joint Commission has contracted to support the ORYX initiative.
ORYX will establish an important link between hospital accreditation and patient care outcomes by requiring healthcare organizations to collect and use performance data and to transmit the data to Joint Commission. Healthshare’s Quality Indicator software is used to assess the quality of hospital care by measuring outcomes, utilization and access to care. It is designed to enable hospitals and managed care organizations to target improvements in clinical practice patterns and case management, establish benchmarks and quantify the costs of adverse quality and total cost differences, and to improve negotiations with managed care organizations and other payers.
