You finally get through the latest survey of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. You have an exit interview, but that doesn’t give you anything concrete you can start working on.
Come Jan. 1, 1998, that will all change.
Maryanne Popovich, RN, MPH, director of home care accreditation services at the commission, says starting with the new year, surveyors will present agencies with preliminary reports on the last day of survey.
"The surveyors will be using laptop computers," Popovich says. "That will not only make them more efficient, but it will allow them to provide agencies with more information before they leave."
