Court’s precedent strikes partial-birth abortion ban
An Ohio law outlawing partial-birth abortions was struck down by a panel of federal appeals court judges last November. The panel’s decision, which was the nation’s first federal appellate ruling on partial-birth abortions, is expected to be appealed and sent to the U.S. Supreme Court. The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled by a two-to-one margin that the state’s 1995 law was fatally flawed. The law makes no exceptions for women who might suffer "severe psychological or emotional injury" without the procedure. The 6th Circuit encompasses Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indiana. t
