Caregivers Receive Battery of Assessments
Caregivers in the support program at the Aging & Dementia Research Center (ADRC) at New York University Medical Center in New York City are thoroughly evaluated, says Mary S. Mittelman, DrPH, associate professor at the medical center. Each caregiver takes a battery of tests from a variety of resources:
o Caregiver Questionnaire [ADRC].
o Caregiver Physical Health Questionnaire [Duke University Center for the Study of Aging & Human Development (CSAHD) OARS functional assessment, Durham, NC].
o Patient Physical Health Questionnaire [Duke University CSAHD].
o Social Network List, including Satisfaction Scale [Stokes JP. Predicting satisfaction with social support from social network structure. Am J Comm Pysch 1983; 35:152-156].
o Family cohesion section of Family Adaptabil-ity and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (Faces III) [Olson DH, Portner J, Lavee Y. "Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scales III."
