Professionalism in Social Media

By Dana Spector, Editor, Relias Learning

Social media blurs the line between professional life and personal life, which could spell trouble for people in the healthcare industry. You may have heard of nurses, physicians, and other employees losing their jobs and their licenses by violating confidentiality or professional boundaries. Where is the line drawn? On April 18, AHC Media will host a live webinar, “Professionalism in Social Media: Guidelines for All Healthcare Workers," with Sue Dill Calloway, RN, MSN, JD.

Calloway, a medical-legal expert, will highlight cases of unprofessionalism in social media and offer legal and risk management advice and best practices to minimize liability. Additionally, she will cover the social media guidelines defined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the Federation of State Medical Boards, and the American Medical Association. The program will also address the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s social media toolkit to bring hospitals and healthcare employees up to date on social media policies.
