Hospital CMS CoPs Made Easy
By Dana Spector, Associate Marketing Manager, AHC Media
All facilities accredited by The Joint Commission, AOA, CIHQ, and DNV Healthcare must adhere to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation (CoPs). This 525-page manual contains interpretive guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards by which all health professionals must abide while treating all patients within the hospital or any hospital-owned department.
Recently, CMS rewrote all the radiology and nuclear medicine sections, including the definition of spouse for individuals of same-sex marriages, implemented 10 tag number changes in pharmacy, changed tag 405 in nursing, and proposed sweeping changes to the discharge planning standards. The interpretive guidelines serve as the basis for determining hospital compliance. Are you ready for the surveyor?
Starting May 4 and continuing over the next three weeks, "Hospital CMS CoPs Made Easy: The Series" will detail these changes step by step. AHC Media's expert Sue Dill Calloway, RN, MSN, JD, will provide all the tools necessary to make compliance a breeze. Learn more and register by clicking here.
